Celebrate Recovery
Team: Dawn Bussey, Richard Harris, Karin Harris, Pastor Elliot Taylor, Mary Veloni
"And be not fashioned according to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, and ye may prove what is the good and acceptable and perfect will of God." Romans 12:2
"For if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by confessing with your mouth that you are saved." Romans 10:9-11
The purpose of Living Grace Ministries “Celebrate Recovery” is to fellowship and celebrate God’s healing power in our lives through the 12 Steps and 8 Recovery Principles. This experience allows us to “be changed.” We open the door by sharing our experiences, strengths, and hopes with one another. In addition, we become willing to accept God’s grace in solving our lifes’ problems.
By working and applying these Biblical principles, we begin to grow spiritually. We become free from our addictive, compulsive, and dysfunctional behaviors. This freedom creates peace, serenity, joy, and most importantly, a stronger personal relationship with God and others. As we progress through this ministry, we discover our personal, loving, and forgiving Higher Power – Jesus Christ.
Welcome to an AMAZING SPIRITUAL ADVENTURE!

Saturday Men's Breakfast
Contact: Joe Miller
Scripture Reference: II Timothy 3:16-17
We recognize that men are constantly being faced with overwhelming challenges. We meet in the Fellowship Hall every Saturday morning at 9:00 AM. A gourmet breakfast is prepared, and we enjoy a wonderful feast in the Word of God. Two years ago, we started with only a handful of men faithfully meeting week after week. Today, we have grown 7-fold with spiritually hungry men learning and practicing how to live in Christ as sons, fathers, husbands, brothers, and ministers.
Prayer Teams
Les & Kay Doyle, Jason Webb Powell, Robin Stevens, Dick & Aggie Uhrich
Scripture Reference: II Corinthians 10:3-5; Ephesians 6:10-12
We are constantly on the alert to subdue any opposition against the work of God in the age of Grace. We prayerfully fight under the armor of God for believers among us, those abroad, our unsaved loved ones and friends (Ephesians 6:11). On Sunday mornings, saints arrive early to pray before the church service. During the service, there are dear believers who gather here to continue praying in the presence of the Lord. On Tuesday and Thursday mornings, we host a multi-church prayer meeting here at our worship hall. On Thursday afternoons, our women’s prayer group meets faithfully. On Thursday evenings, the corporate cry of another group of saints can still be heard. Throughout the week, an intercessory prayer team makes petitions on behalf of others in God’s purpose. As an individual, one may find it difficult to unceasingly pray (I Thess. 5:17). However, we are a church, One New Man (Ephesians 2:15), built up as the house of prayer (Mark 11:17) to the heavenly Father in the Spirit of His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord, who is our eternal life. We meet weekly to prayerfully confront this spiritual warfare on so many levels. The prayers of the righteous avails much (James 5:16). Do join us as we stand faithfully in the power and victory of Jesus Christ our Lord.
Higher Ground
Team: Tyler Sutton, Paul Taylor (AKA P.T.)
From scavenger hunts, singing, open mic, to serving the homeless, each Saturday night high school-aged teens gather for an adventure and a Bible study. If you are looking for a place where your teen can come, feel safe, and enjoy being with other Christian teens, rest assured that they are welcome here.
Praise & Worship
Contact: Pastor Kevin Wilder
"Let every thing that has breath give praise to the Lord." Psalm 150:6
Our praise and worship team has been together for 12 years. In that time, we have had the privilege of ministering at various conferences with other churches we co-labor with. We’ve even had the honor of serving at Purdy Prison. Our purpose is not to lead people into worship but to worship our King and, through it, have the people sense the presence of God. This is our calling, and we are thankful to all saints who have laid down their lives to be a part of it.
Pastors
Senior Pastor: Tom Powell
Scripture Reference: Ephesians 4:11
Along with our Pastor, we give praise and thanks to God the Father as we honor our faithful associate and affiliate pastors among us. They have diligently served and shepherded the flock here and abroad. Moreover, they have consistently set their own concerns aside and made themselves available to care for the saints. We are so blessed to have them:
- Jim Cornwell
- Ken Dietrich
- Mitch Powell
- Tom Powell
- Pete Stevens
- Elliot Taylor
- Paul Wheelock

Hispanic Outreach
Contact: Emanuel Valdez Cepeda
Scripture Reference: Matthew 28:18-20; Acts 1:8
We preach the Word of God and minister His love to Hispanics. There has been much growth in personal leadership skills through this ministry. While we are in transition, we’ve already seen people with hearts to be discipled and serve. In the near future, we hope to see many Spanish-speaking disciples who can share the gospel through the Word of God in His love to others.
Saturday Night Feed
Team: Sherry Stansell, Thad & Avonelle Taylor
But Jesus said to them, "They do not need to go away. You give them something to eat." Matthew 14:15
Living Grace Ministries has been serving at the Saturday Night Feed with other churches from around the South Puget Sound for 8 years. We started out with just a handful of people participating, and we now have a fortified, faithful group of men and women who delight in serving others. Our purpose is to minister to the homeless. This ministry was started 15 years ago by Pastor Ed Wren from the Christian Biker Tabernacle. Every weekend, the love of Christ is demonstrated to approximately 200-300 homeless men, women, and children by dispensing food, clothing, supplies for hygiene, basic first aid supplies, and prayer. We are so thankful to the Tacoma Rescue Mission for allowing us to move this service from under the I-705 bridge to their state of the art facility. We welcome anyone who senses the love and calling of Christ to serve with us. It has truly been a blessing!
Church Food Bank
Team: Pastor Walt & Jeanie Berggren, Becky Fortin, Pastor Tom Powell
Scripture Reference: Matthew 25:35 & 36
One way that we help our community is by providing food and clothing to those in need every Saturday from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm here at the LGM campus. Consider the words of Christ: "For I was hungry, and you gave me something to eat; I was thirsty, and you gave me something to drink; I was a stranger, and you invited me in; naked, and you clothed me; I was sick, and you visited me; I was in prison, and you came to me."
We invite you to come and visit; all are welcome!
Our partner, Freedom River Outreach, has a Food Bank every Thursday from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm, also on campus.

Women's Ministry
Team: Susan Keller, Becky Miller, Kimberly Preis
Scripture Reference: Titus 2:3-5
"In the last 3-4 years of our women’s ministry, we have seen growth, blessings, and spiritual building through our Bible studies. We offer a variety of fellowships focused on the different seasons of life women face. Our meetings are led regularly by mature believers to encourage, edify, and challenge each one as we grow in Christ."
New Life Program
Contact: Les Doyle (Program Director at the Tacoma Rescue Mission)
"Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation." II Corinthians 5:17
We have been privileged to participate in Tacoma Rescue Mission’s New Life Program. A growing number of men and women from New Life have found Living Grace to be a church whose doors are open to them and where they feel free to worship and praise such a wonderful Christ who is transforming them daily. Some of the graduates have even transitioned into our Bible College while residing in its dormitory. Visit the New Life Program Website.
Christian Singles
Contact: Jason Webb Powell
"The eyes of your heart having been enlightened, that you may know what is the hope of His calling, and what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints." Ephesians 1:18
The Christian Singles Ministry has been in operation for quite some time all over the world. In Northern America alone, over 50% of the adult population is composed of single people. While some Christian singles have met their mates at gatherings, the goal of this ministry is to find Christ in other singles. Through this ministry which meets weekly, normal and healthy relationships develop in many saints. We become filled and enriched in spirit through the Bible studies and fellowship. We welcome any saints who wish to participate in the Saturday evening gatherings. For more than 3 years, our church has shared in this ministry with other churches from around the county. Come out to join us where you will experience further blessings from the Father.
World Outreach
Contact: Pastor Tom Powell
Scripture Reference: Matthew 28:16-20
In the heart of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, it is our commission to minister His life to every person in every corner of the earth. We prayerfully support those saints from among us who have sacrificed much in a personal way to spread the incarnated, crucified, resurrected, and ascended Christ to people outside of the U.S. Stand with us as we support Fabian and Erica Lopez in Chile; Joshua and Prossy Naluswa in Uganda; Herman & Annie Lukwago in Uganda; John Semahoro in Uganda and Congo. Please visit IAGM for more information and to donate.

Hospital Visitation & Nursing Home
Team: Pastor Paul & Esther Wheelock/Michael & Carolina Wheelock
Scripture Reference: Matthew 25:36
We visit patients at St. Joseph's Hospital on Monday nights at 5:00 p.m. Our purpose is to minister to those who may not know the love of God. As volunteers, we can openly profess and share our faith with people in need of a chaplain. On Sundays (at 3:00 PM), we minister Christ to people at the Regency of Tacoma Nursing Home.
Honored Seniors
Contact: Pastor Paul & Esther Wheelock
Scripture Reference: James 1:27
Our seniors, the older and mature saints over 55, are like pillars among us who quietly fight to keep the genuine oneness and the presence of God in the sanctuary. We worship and serve our Lord as we care for seniors who may need spiritual feeding and physical healing. Our goal is to encourage and assist senior adults to receive Christ, grow spiritually, and be involved in Christian outreach.
